I have a Passiflora that I over wintered in the house as it arrived as a plug plant at the end of October - it spent most of its time in the porch, where it was cold but not as cold as outside; thereafter, I moved it to the kitchen windowsill where it got a bit of a spurt on and had great fun climbing up the cord for the kitchen blind.

However, toward the end of its indoor tenure, the leaves toward the bottom of the stems fell off, which left it looking really straggly. When I re-potted it to go out, I sank the bare parts of the stems under the compost so that the stems above ground were mostly clad with leaves in the hope that it would flourish in the sun and get cracking into a nice strong plant.

However, it seems if anything to have regressed a bit - it certainly isn't making anything of an impact, that is for sure. I have fed it, and watered it faithfully, and sat it in the sun, but it still doesn't seem happy.

Am I fighting a losing battle with this one?

Passiflora most likely hate being indoors.. it needs adequate humidity.. I reckon it'll bounce back outside.

I agree with Stephen, although it might take a while to get going, once outside.
Be very careful not to overwater.

You might have been better to have left it in the porch and allowed it to come on gradually in the cooler conditions rather than the move to the warmer window sill.

Thanks guys :) - overwatering might well be an issue, as I have been watering it daily when doing everything else in the garden. I will give it a miss on every second water and see how it goes.

Yup, I have tried some of the tropical Passifloras indoors, and they don't do well unfortunately. Not humid enough.

Can I suggest that you water weekly instead of daily or alternative days.. Maybe take growing tips out to encourage side shoots lower down..
But honestly believe your giving it too much love........

Ah, too much love - so they are a bit like nasturtiums then, and thrive on tough love? I shall duly ignore it for a while and see what happens :blue thumb:
