Problems with linking pictures from external hosts.

I have previously used the image host imagur to attach pictures to my forum posts but now it does not seem to work.

Before, for example, I could type the picture url inbetween the "" tags and it would work:

"[img]https://i.imgur.com/mypicture.jpg"

But, something has obviously changed as I can no longer view any of my pictures in my old posts.

I can view them in edit and compose mode but not in preview mode nor once the post is live.

What is going on?

They have not switched off hotlinking. I can see the pictures in message edit mode and compose mode, it is only in preview mode and live mode that the picture links don't work.

 

I've never understood why people seem to go about posting pictures in the most difficult way possible.
We used to have to use hosting sites years ago.

I either post them directly from my PC or from the SD card.
Or from my phone.

This forum has an undesirable quirk in that most of the pictures are not visible to non members and to those who are logged out. That is why I prefer to store them on another host site where they will be freely accessible to anyone and everyone.

 

Oh OK I didn't know that.
I've never been a non member if you get my meaning.

In the early days I used Photobucket and they went subscription only so all my pictures just disappeared from here, that's why I prefer to post picture directly.
