    Hi all

This really is a continuation from my Newbie post where theres more pics. Project X will become Y and Z to reflect the 3 projects that Im doing as a pre-retirement present (thinking long term! I.e. can still enjoy it whilst I can still walk!). Garden is quite large but more like an allotment as its separate to the house (next door but one really) at 420m2 so for the last 20 odd years its been grass with a few veggie beds but never anything substantial. Oh, yeh, its also sloping high at the back and low at the front. I finally finished (almost - a bit of gravel and backfill to do). Like any projects, the mind still keeps coming up with ideas that you just havent thought about until you see its the most obvious thing in the world. Anyway, heres a few pics of the last few months.

Here in west wales we caught the tail end of Storm Callum and even though Ive over engineered the polytunnel it never moved! Its first big test. Ive also got mains water inside now (still have to connect a tap) and plan to add an auto irrigation system. So, the big question that everyone asks is ..... so what are you going to grow! Answer. Not a clue really! So, Id be grateful for any advice. I planted a few seeds yesterday - Mizuna, Rocket, Winter Spring Onions, Winter Radish, Lambs Lettuce and Mustard leaves. Beyond that any polytunnel experts for veggies as Ive no interest in growing plants (that my wife’s job!) would be gratefully received.

    Cheers
    Dai

Its 6mm stone chippings - cheap as chips for a tonne from any builders merchant. Believe it or not, we’re from the same home town!

Even though Project X is not quite finished, Project Y is about to start at the top of the garden. This will be a large summer house within PD and decking area for grown ups and a smaller decking area with ‘play summerhouse’ for the little one and her friends. Ive got a digger coming in a couple of weeks - weather dependant of course and need to clear the blackthorn, bamboo and brambles first. So, whilst it’d relatively dry, make hay whilst the sun shines. Ill post a couple of pics later today. Happy Tuesday everyone.
                Cheers

This is the top of the garden at the very beginning - too many blackthorns and brambles at the moment.

                      AC78B988-FDD5-4F3B-9679-32F752EBA98C.jpeg Hi guys
7 days on and have to say Im shocked by how quick my winter leaves have come on. Radish, Mizuna, Mustard and Rocket in that order. Should be harvesting at this rate by next weekend . Weekend was spent clearing more hedges and chopping the kindling ready for winter. Digger on hold due to my father in law being on a big job in North Wales. At least it gives me more time to clear. Its funny, the more I clear, the bigger the garden gets!!

This was taken Saturday afternoon. Isn’t nature a wonderful thing?
Hope you all have a good week and will be back when more to report.
                      Cheers
                      Dai
