A fairly large black spider made it's home in a corner of my bedroom level to my pillow. Living in Australia took away my fear of spiders but nonetheless I didn't really want to sleep with him that close.

I carefully relocated him into the kitchen where there was an old web at the window where my herbs and tomato plants are having decided he would do a better job than my venus flytrap and pitcher plant. (I swear the bluebottle scrambling over the pitcher was dancing to Jailhouse Rock).

Despite 3 flies being caught in the web there was no sign of the spider. Well, five days later he is back in the bedroom in his corner looking smug, the web has been cleaned off the kitchen window and I'm entering the bluebottle into "Britain's Got Talent"!

I wouldn't want a spider in my bedroom, especially level to the pillow (just in case he decides to come exploring...)
But, like you, I don't kill spiders if I can avoid it. It is amazing how he came back from the kitchen to his "web-site".
Like cats do: they can travel for days to go back to their home.

    That really made me giggle!

I have a dreaded fear of spiders, but am working hard (13 1/2 years worth of sweat and tears!) to overcome my fear! I don't kill them either - but go for the relocation tactic too - except that i take mine right down to the end of the street, and sometimes to the other side too! My neighbours have grown used to the sight of me teetering down the road by streetlight with a glass and card in my hand!

Some yob tried to kick off my son's door mirror on his car parked out the front the other night. So I switched on the security camera that i had not used for a while, leaned out the bedroom window and wiped away the cob webs. Later I was downstairs and switched on the TV just to check. The spider had already put one strand across and then all of a sudden this gigantic spider heaved into view. Well it looked enormous there taking up most of the screen. Gave me quite a turn. You don't normally get such an intimate view of a spider repairing its web. Cleaned the lens an hour ago and its already put a couple of threads across.

You are not the only sentimental one T & O.

Many years ago when I was married to my ex we always had very old cars which only lasted a year or two (always poor!!). Anyway, a spider moved into one particular car and every morning on his way to work my ex would see the spider drop down on his "thread" then nip back behind the sun visor on the drivers side. This went on day after day and eventually my ex gave the spider a name and used to say "good morning" to it.... bless.

But, of course the day came when the car died and it was towed away to be sc-rapped by the local junk man. About an hour after it had gone my ex (who was not known for his sentimentality) jumped up and screamed "Oh no! Harold!!!"

I'm ashamed to say my children and I did laugh :D :D :D
