Is this meant to prevent money making from trademarked plants, or does it mean for personal use too?
What's the general consensus on this?

I suppose it MAY mean something if you were into selling large amount of plants (i.e. professional nursery), but it really means nothing if you propagate for you and your friends! Go ahead and propagate, with the blessing of every gardener on earth. ;)

On a slightly more serious note - but I find it difficult to be serious for long :D

Senetti is a registered trade mark of the plant breeder Suntory so no other commercial company is allowed to use the name.

You can do what you like with it as you bought the right to use it for personal use when you bought the plant. Even if you were selling them you wouldn't really have a problem if you just labelled them as pericallis (Senecio or aster family).

    Serious bit done.

Enjoy them and take as many cuttings as you like :thumb: :D

It is unlawful to propagate many new plants for commercial purposes, without the appropriate licence. It is quite lawful to propagate them for personal use and not for profit :)

Plant Propagators Rights mean nothing to the Dutch, they just give it a different name and carry on reguardless! They are untouchable!

Just like in the music industry, the P.R.Society chase up ordinary people but do not chase up China and other far east countries.

So get propagating like mad, and don't forget us on here, i'll take a dozen myself!

    Cherrio!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ps It's tipping down here at the moment!

Is it illegal to nick cuttings off plants from garden centres, or pick up the bits that have fallen off, because you accidentally knocked the plant on the floor, cause if it is...I better watch out for the cctv, heh, heh.

As far as i am aware, the prs is a society and has no legal standing in court, the money they raise goes to the main players in the music world ie

paul mccartney, michael jackson, elton john and.....mike batt these guys own a hell of a lot of the music rights, unfortunately the musician doesnt see much of it

I am with whis4ey here. I've had several plants that come into this category. One was a pink trailing strawberry plant years and years ago and there was something more recent I had .... can't think what. But I would give a cutting/rooting to a friend but never 'commercialise' it because I respect the concept.

Legal standing..not sure, but it was a very powerful society. There was a period when we had to fill in PRS forms after a gig...mind you we used to fill em with rubbish. But the venue was responsible for returning said forms?

Virgin has just warned some of their customers (under pressure from the PRS crew) that if they download any more music illegally, they will be disconnected from the internet!

I am not one of them.

My gripe with these people, is that they will chase after the little people, but the big players, they are scared to touch , (Dutch plant stealers and Chinese DVD CD copiers)!

Look at Bill Gates and Microsoft, the Chinese government told him to get stuffed, they were not paying for any licences, and what did he do,
he told them they did not need to pay, lucky them!
