    Hi all

I'm new here, but i've been edible gardening for a few years. I had a whole bunch of elderly seeds that i wanted to use use so decided a good way would be to have a seed planting competition with my partner and his 12yo son.

All well and good but with the doors open and one gust of wind all the propagator covers were blow off, taking with them all the labels!

I know which trays belong to who. And i know which labels go in which trays because of the handwriting, but now the seedlings are starting to appear, i have no idea which labels go with which seedlings.

If i were to post some photos with the options, do you think you could help me out??

I'm desperate to organise them as the son will be with us from tomorrow, and actually, his tray is winning!!

    Son's Tray...

Planted: Aubergine, Basil, Tomato (orange berry), Jalepeno pepper, watermelon, melon

Photo 1 - There are three different lines so three different seeds... i could guess that there is tomato and pepper, but what could the third be? and i suppose i'll have to wait for true leaves to distinguish between the three....

Photo 2 - At guess i'd say these are melon or watermelon. The melon seeds were much newer than the watermelon so balance of probability they are melon. Any other possibilities from my list? Any way to be sure or i have to wait for true leaves?

    Thanks in advance

    Partners Tray....

Planted: Rocket, Tomato (Orange berry), Cucumber, Tomato (Roma), Melon, Sweet Pepper, Jalepeno Pepper

Photo 1: Growing well, and similar to that seen in sons tray, which makes me think melon (and adds weight to the theory that it's melon in son's tray also). Any other possibilities from this list?

Photo 2 and three. Both doing well... and i'm guessing tomato or pepper.. Will i have to wait for true leaves? Any other possibilities from this list?

Hard to tell tomatoes from aubergines at seed leaf stage, watermelon for the 2nd pic is probable.

Again with the other pics, really need the true leaves to come thru, won't be long now though :)

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I didnt realise that aubergines were similar to tomatoes at this stage, but at least i have the three contenders for son's tray!

Any objections to me updating this post when the true leaves start to show?
