I was just thinking now, I might write a letter to my mate in Taiwan. At one time, before the interweb, it was fairly normal for me to write long 'update' letters to friends who had moved away (or who I had moved away from). So thinking I might do this letter, I suddenly thought, well what will I put in it? He is already about up to date with what's going on here, as I am with his life, because we keep in touch regularly on Bookface.

So that's definitely a good thing, but at the same time, it's sort of killed the concept of a letter.

One time every Crimbo with our card, two distant relatives sent a Round Robin letter

    Hi All
We took the whole family to the States for Easter
Timothy and Peter both got firsts at Oxford
Timothy is taking a year out in Peru and Peter is doing social studies in GHANA

We spent our usual eight weeks in Tuscany for summer, and met David Cameron and Sam
    we even had lunch together
John is a bit worried about retiring at 50 as it looks like he will only get £500k lump sum rather than the £800k expected, then God forbid, only £147k a year to live on

We built a £240k house in the Paddock for Johns Mum and Dad, but they are not keen living in it, They preferred their Georgian terraced house in Upminster but it was a chore for us to visit
Well we do hope you are having a good year in your ex council house and would love to visit one year
    Love Marilyn

Oh how I look forward to my Round Robin letters "merry xmas"

    Jack McH

Agree with Jack about those terrible Round Robin bragging letters :) We only got one this year. It's nice to get the individual letters though.

I only ever used my facebook account for getting money off coupons, free stuff and entering competitions.
