Brilliant job done Paul, looks like you enjoyed yourself there.:gnthb:Mr Kandy is good at DIY but the only thing he doesn't like doing is large areas of plastering. He doesn't mind small bits and can do them quiet well but not whole walls:p

    Thanks Folks,

Kandy, I don't mind plastering, I was given a few pointers by a pro spread and these helped to correct my technique and speed me up on whole walls, a decent drill wisk helps speed the mixing as well. On occasion Iv rendered some fairly hefty areas on landscaping jobs so my technique is improving steadily.

The only two things I wont do are brick laying and carpet/ vinyl. The local flooring guy Dennis is a total perfectionist and his vinyl and carpet laying better than anything I could do. As for bricklaying, Ive never been shown and although I can do it, to get quality clean faces I'm very slow and thus don't enjoy it.

Roders, well spotted! Ive fitted soft close seats for other people so had to have one in my own bathroom!!!

Well done Pro, do you want a bit more experience?:) Free board & lodging - no? Oh well.

Seriously, good job. I too love floor to ceiling tiling, haven't had it in any of my own homes though. Still, keep doing the lottery!

'Soft close toilet' - isn't that only the lid? I don't keep our lid closed although I believe that's bad feng shui plus bad hygiene!!! Now a soft close seat would be good I think!:) If that's what you're all talking about then I want one! How does that tary with the hygiene thing then?

When do you expect to finish? Tiling takes quite a while I understand although not for you 'workers', I'm still working on painting the hall, only 2 months!

Don't forget to post the rest of the project will you?

    cheers

    Lol Sandra.

Soft close seats have a damping mecanism on the hindge to stop the lid clatering closed, similar to the blue motion draw closers in modern kitchens.

Ill have it tiled and grouted by the end of next week, Im just doing bits off and on in the evenings after work so it takes me longer, working in a focused way It would take me around 2 days or so.

OK Pro, to be honest - I'm jealous. Come and do mine please. I love my hubby but he's useless at diy. Keep showing the pics cos we're going to get ours done, hopefully next year, and we're sort of panicking! We need a good man like you, have you got a 'list of good diy men/handymen'. They should put this up on this site cos I tell you there's lots of people like me that can swap one thing for anothere.

    Well done you.

    cheers

    Walnut, Thanks.

Re isolation valves, great minds think alike!!!!:

Finished tiling, grouted, done all the siliconing, Varnished windowsill, glossed architrave and boxing etc and put up towel rail etc. The vinyl went down today. Just the door to hang and curtains to put up.

The mirrored cabinet is seriusly cool with internal mirrors and opens out to allow you to see the back and sides of your head!!!!
