PROSTRATE JUNIPER

    merrymeet all,
    I would like to plant a prostrate juniper shrub in my garden but dont know what type of soil they prefer and wether i can plant it at the back of other plants.
    Hope someone can help lol.

    Hi!
    I use Jumiperus squamata 'Blue Carpet' quite a lot - it's oe of that type, with a blueish colouring. They do prefer acid soil, but they'll be ok in any soil. As for planting them behind others, I find it's best to plant it on a slope, at the front, so it tumbles over the edge (a bit artistic - it doesn't really tumble, of course :rolleyes: )

    Anything growing to near any conifer won't do well, as the soil will be pretty dry. I find that incorporating it in a rockery-style area works well.

    You're welcome! I see I had a few typos - must really check my posts before posting :rolleyes:

    The only one that really matters is that it should have read "juniperus" of course!
