Is it too late to prune forsythia - I intended to do this in spring but as it is so overgrown now, I want to remove some of the inner growth. If I prune it now, will it prevent it flowering next spring?

Forsythia flowers on the wood it grew this Summer, so one tends to prune it after flowering to make room for the new growths. However, if the bush is overgrown flowering would be reduced anyway, so pruning now would not be a problem. Aim to remove about a third of the oldest branches. That way two thirds of the bush should still flower.
