I wish to cut the growth on my Leylandi hedge. Is it now the wrong time of year as we now have frosts? I am concerned the frost will damage it and it will then go brown??
I also have some 2yr old mixed hedging plants(hazel, thorn, spindle, dogwood etc) that have grown well but now too high and straggly. Will they be damaged by frost if I cut back a bit now to tidy up?

Can't advise on the conifers but for the rest I have pruned shrubs when its been cold - though well after all the leaves have fallen. You may get a bit of die back in severe frost as you do with roses, but new growth should cover that.

or you can leave it for two weeks, when the Met. Office forecast a return to south westerlys after a week of cold winds and snow on high ground brrrr.
