    Good morning ☺️

I’m needing some advice. We’ve not long moved house and I need some help with pruning some shrubs. The garden was very overgrown and we’ve decided to keep the larger shrubs and bushes for a year to see what we like and what we don’t. This hydrangea is one of my favourites but I have no idea when or how to prune it. It’s got a lot of woody parts that have no new growth on them. Help and advice would be much appreciated. (Hopefully the photos attach). One is from the front of the bush and the other from the back.

You could take out any dead stems right now and do a little more tidying, but don't get carried away - the best time for reshaping it will be in early spring. Full instructions here: Hydrangea pruning / RHS Gardening
