    Morning all

is it too late to prune this Spirea? I’m thinking of reducing it by 1/3.

    Thanks all!

You could, but you'll probably get no flowers this year, or maybe just some smaller flowers later in the season.
I sometimes forget to prune mine in the autumn and it just means that the stems are much longer. It still flowers, but the weight of the flowers at the end of the long stems will make it droopy - and that's how mine is this year too :)

In my experience these things are bomb proof. I have one which I butcher down to ground level every early spring. It comes back with a vengeance, and still flowers too.

If I left it to its own devices mine would be quite a large shrub, maybe 5ft x 5ft, which I don't want. Hard pruning it every year means at the height of the growing season it gets to about 3ft x 3ft.
