prunus avium Sylvia DWARF cherry tree

    im thinking of buying a Prunus avium Sylvia cherry tree to grow outdoors in a pot

    Any tips ?

    What size pot would you recommend, i will probably be buying a pot from homebase

    depends on what size of plant you are buying , a little plant in a 9cm pot will struggle in a 45-50cm wide pot, a larger plant in a 5L pot will be fine . Ideally for long term planting a pot size around 45-50 cm wide at the top should be ok . Soil based compost ( john innes no3 ) will be best mixed about 60/40 with multipurpose compost you can add more JI if you wish , the JI will provide the weight as well to hopefully stop the pot from tipping over in windy weather .

    thanks but just to be clear are you suggesting it can be permanently kept in a 45-50cm pot. I want to buy a dwarf tree
