Having entirely failed to recover the top half of my garden as I had hoped, I'm now running out of room for all my seedlings :-(
I did have a thought of growing on the purple sprouting in pots until the sweetcorn is finished and planting them out then. Has anyone tried this? Does it sound feasible ?

Hello McHumph, I've grown a lot of things in pots But not PSB.

What I can tell you about it is that it does get big - but it doesn't get big quickly.

I think you could grow it in pots then plant it out in the autumn once you have other things out of the ground. Good luck. I think it will work.

Isn't the idea of PSB to harvest it when it's young? In which case it should be okay in large pots I would have thought.
I'm growing broccolli "60 days raab" in pots and it seems to be doing quite well.

PSB won't sprout until next March Canucks by which time it will be very big.

I've planted my 60 days raab too. Hope we both get great crops.

"Green" Sprouting Broccoli would give you a harvest the September, or so, wouldn't it?

this is winter PSB so I'm not expecting a crop until next year. I grew it last year and it does get very big. My concerns are that restricting it in pots (even large ones) could adversely effect it, and that disturbing the roots at an advanced stage to plant them out may not help either.
    Ah well; experiment time again!

I think you're PSB would be fine in pots until you get your corn out of the ground. As I said before it does get very big - but not quickly - so I think it will be fine.

As you say - there's no such thing as a failure in gardening - it's all an experiment.
Go for it and let's know the result.
    That's why we're here.
