Back from a flying visit to the North Island New Zealand - spent a damp but interesting morning at the Pukeiti gardens on the slope of mount Taranaki. Huge collection of rhododendrons & some cracking rainforest / "native bush" left to do its own thing out the back. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, my photos almost completely fail to do the place justice.

Just a taster, many many more pictures here if you havent had your fill - I was hugely impressed by the tree ferns (some of the tallest in NZ I was told) & the way they have combined the formal gardens & the bush so many pictures of that sort of thing there.

Excellent pics Nick, very lush and love the Tree Ferns.:dbgrtmb:
North Island has a warmer climate than here so they can grow things outside that we can't. Obviously it is Spring there.
We are planning a trip to Oz in four years time, not sure if we will get to NZ as well so your pics might have to suffice!

Thanks Nick! I could happily move to NZ but t'other half says that it is too far for her

Having lived in both countries I will say that if it is at all possible spend some time in NZ.
