    Hi all; this is a picture of something growing on the end of what is supposed to be my Pumpkin plant :D, it started of yellow and almost round, but this is what it has now grown to; looking nothing like the young pumpkins on my plant last year and more like a marrow, this is a different variety of pumpkin seed than last years (Johnson's seeds). It's currently about 10-12" long and 6-8" deep and growing rapidly.

    It does look more like a marrow to me too. My pumpkins have always been yellow and round from beginning to end.

    That looks just like what you get when crossing a marrow with a pumpkin - a parrow or mumpkin, that will turn orange as it ripens.

    My neighbour had one that looked just like that last year, and it turned yellow as it ripened. I vote pumpkin.

    Is it a variety described as "Halloween" pumpkin as they can produce green pumpkins that turn dark orange and occassionally produce an elongated one?

    Could you also post a pic of the leaves?

    Hi Scrungee, you can see the leaves in this thread, this is how it was about 3 weeks ago;

    From what I remember yes it was labelled Halloween Pumpkin or Jack-o-lantern....:thumb:

    Thought it might be one of those. Carefully standing it upright might help it grow into a more pumpkin like shape.

        I'm glad I found this thread (should have done a search before I asked the question!) my pumpkins are called Freaky Tom and are growing green but should be orange so going by your experience they should change eventually.

        Carefully drawing it and the stem back (towards where it's planted) so you can stand it upright will help it grow into a more pumpkin like shape

          Well it's turned orange and not noticeably getting any larger; the plant is fading quickly really and the leaves are covered in mildew, which leads me to a question, should I leave it in situ for now or should I cut it from the plant and store it?? :thumb:
