Last year we grew giant pumpkins, mid season they went soft and turned a light orange. Is this a fungus? I have never experienced this before.
    Cheers

Can't help you with what the problem/cause is, but it sounds like the same thing that happened to a couple of mine last year. I reduced the amount of pumpkins on my plant down to 3 and when they were all about the same size as decent melons 2 went soft and eventually starting collapsing so I had to remove them.

The plant never dried out at any stage and was watered regularly so I doubt it was lack of water intake?

Luckily the remaining pumpkin grew to an impressive size..for halloween :D
