    Hi,
apologies for the bad photo- can anyone name this strange fungus?

The biggest blobs are like half chicken eggs, the surface is velvety dark purple and the growth looks soft. It's quite common on tree trunks up to 1.5 m height.

We call it magic deer poo. The proper name would do good to our morals.

    Thanks!

Daldinia Concentrica known commonly as King Alfred's Cakes. I'm no expert @Selleri, I cheated and looked on the web.
