can anyone recommend where i can get a really good purple tom from - i grew one two years ago so dark it was nearly black and the flavour was wonderful but last year i couldnt find any. i would prefer to buy a small plant rather than grow from seed

    hope you can help

I have grown Thompson & Morgan Black Cherry from seed for a couple of years and it crops very well.:thumb:

They are selling them and Black Russian @ £9.99 for 5 'jumbo' plants. Only thing is, postage is £4.45 which probably isn't worth it unless you make a bigger order.

Some people have found T&M's plants not always as good as advertised.:skp:

Hi loopy, I grew Black Russian & Black Cherry last year from seed, see this post: http://www.gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=359130&postcount=36 both were very nice - they have a savoury flavour.

I grew Black Krim the previous year and it wasn't that good although Gardeners World rave about it. Sorry I can't add anything to Strongy's suggestion for plants - you might struggle to find these more unusual varieties as plants.

Loopy I just came across simpsons seeds who sell black tomato plants for £1.50 here http://www.simpsonsseeds.co.uk/shop/Black_and_Green.html

I'm not sure what the delivery is nor have I ever used them but thought you might be interested.

EDIT: I just found the tomato on the above web site I was searching for 'Floridity' - trouble is they don't sell the seeds only plants - but the good news is it's only £2.50 for one plant delivered free, now thats good value.
