Hi, completely new here and completely new to gardening!

Can anyone advise please. I have a lavertera (mallow) in the garden and want to dig it up. It has seeded. Will the seeds compost if I just run the lot through the shredder and mix in with all my garden compost or are they toughies and I'll end up with mallow all over the place?

    Many thanks.

SORRY I'VE NOW REALISED THERE IS A COMPOSTING THREAD! BIT TOO EXCITED!

I'll not dampen the enthusiasm then!

Yep, whack it through the shreader and compost it, don't worry about the seeds. They might survive, they might germinate when you put the compost back on the garden... but the compost will be full of weed seeds anyway, and Lavertarias won't be a problem, just pull 'em out like the rest of the weeds, and one or too might even accidentally survive to flowering, for an unexpected spash of colour!

Thanks for that, shredding will commence! Hopefully the heat of the composting will kill them - poor thing, unfortunately its a plant I really can't stand!
