Today I went to B&M and seen lots of pygmy date palm for sale at £24.99 , I owned 2 in the past with no luck of go even over the first winter , I`ve tryed to owerwinter one indoor and one in the greenhouse but no luck they just want to die. So I though the is just one of them palm , like coconut that need more light and sunshine.
    das anyone have one ?

I had a Phoenix roebilenii in a pot for a number of years.

They are a nice palm, as much softer than most of the Phoenix palms.

Probably one of the tenderest though, so need to be kept a few degrees above zero in winter.
If you can do that they are not difficult.

It das sound like a perfect conservatory plant , not for me as i don`t have one , but agree it is a nice palm except for the thorns .
In case anyone have a nearby B&M , I think the price is really good for the plant , seen the same size at homebase for £50 .
