Will pyracantha survive with very little sun in the winter months. I've a fence at the back of my garden I wish to train something up and I'm keen on pyracantha red berry variety.

Problem is through the dark months the fence sees very little sun. Will this be ok or should I look at a diffrent climber?

Also the orange berry one I saw in my local garden center said on the tab 'no need to prune' What is this all about? Surely its important to prune the branches out that will inevitably grown in places I don't want them??

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
I've two of these, one down the side of the house is quite shaded.
Rhs website says they are happy in partial shade.
Mine has loads of red berries and needs regular hacking to stop it smothering neighbouring conifers.

    Good luck
