Pyracantha

    I have a large paracantha at the front of my barn that's grown too thick and stands out some two feet from the barn wall. If I cut it back to 9" - 12" it's going to be devoid of most of it's foilage. Question is will it recover, that is to say, start new growth from the bare branches of it doomed and I start again? Advise needed

    See the link above, Not had chance to read through it but I thinks it is saying they flower and fruit on wood that is older than 1 year...which means a good cutback may result in a season without fruit or berries while it puts on new growth to flower following season

    In my experience you can cut them back as hard as you like and they will still grow back.
