Hi my hedge of Pyracanthra has a lot of brown leaves on top and two of them have hardly any leaves at all. There appears to be no sign of any disease and I was wondering if it is just the effect of the recent severe weather we have had in the Northeast.
    Thank you.

Hi Alnham, I shouldn't worry too much as I think you'll find it's just been "scorched" by the cold and wind. I live in the milder part of Cheshire and there's a lot of people here that have the same problem with hedging. I've got a 30 year old Pyracantha at the North front of my house and it has survived some really bad winters. The Pyracantha is really tough so you'll find it'll lose the scorched leaves and you'll get new growth. A friend of mine has just moved up to Northeast Yorkshire from Rutland and has discovered that the East Wind there doesn't go around you - it goes through you!

Thank you for your reply, I will just have to be patient. The wind in the Northeast is worse than Yorkshire!
