Hi chums. I used to find these kinda plants very boring, in fact I wouldn't have given you 2p for them. I remember the wife bringing it home last year and (in my mind) yawning. I must be getting old, cos I reckon that actually they're rather nice. Is there any hope for me ? :)

It's actually quite a useful plant, as it seems to take to training quite well and it seems to be thriving where it is (east facing wall)
    Cheers...freddy.

    Hi Freddy

    You're mellowing, I can tell!

Your pyracantha is certainly at a very pretty stage - just wait till it puts those spines out!

I have a short stretch of pyracantha crenulata as a hedge and I have to keep it trimmed right back or its talons will do you a mischief.

I planted two pyracantha last year ,so this is the first year they have flowered,

as the flowers die off you get berries ? :cnfs: Because mine just look like dried up little flowers and don`t look any where near big enough to make berries

Fredeeeeeee they are lovely shrubs. They attract bees and hover flies when in flower and give off a lovely perfume. I have then either side of my dining room window and they look lovely. I haven't got the hang of pruning and tend to lose a year's flowering. This time I am going to prune just after Xmas when the berries are going anyway. i string Xmas lights through them too or rather Mr Granny does and hates them cos he ends up covered in scratches:hehe:

This is one of them. Sorry didn't have one without my son and his fiancee

I planted a hedge of 4 variations of pyracanthas
They are in there second season and are making great headway up and out
They will need hard pruning this year
    The birds love the berries.
