I have been given 10 bags of Quail manure and bedding. Can I put it on my soil or do I need to wait. I put it in my tumble composter and it got very very warm . I am pressuming this is good . When will I know when it is composted.

Sounds good to me.. I would tumble it for a few months at least till you have a have fine dry/moist compost to get all the acids etc out....

Another thing you could do with some of it is to put some in a sack in a bucket or tub of water for a few weeks and then use the liquid as a liquid feed and chuck the remaining solids into the composter or onto the garden.

Hi Compost Maker I agree with Marley and Dave:)

    The Book way
Chicken, pigeon, and other bird manure is good for seeds, flowers and fruits, because their manure is rich in phosphorus and nitrogen, It is best made into a liquid compost by mixing it into ten parts water and letting it ferment in a barrel (stir regularly for 6-8 weeks).
    Hope this helps.:)

    My way
I have a a Rain Butt which is full with water and I fill a half sack up with Quail straw and droppings which a friend kindly gives me every so often ,leave it for 3 weeks and then use it for watering ,my veg and flowers love it (I prefer not to water over the Plants just round the roots):)
