@Gail_68 - what you need to remember is that in the olden days moving pictures themselves were witchcraft, let alone real moving Martians. Course it was scary to our grandparents as they'd only just stopped burning witches in the fifties

 

Except in Zummerzet of course where it is still considered good wholesome family entertainment to this day
