Hello,I'm brand new here and my first post is a question.I hope this doesn't appear rude.

I've just made my first foray into doing my garden after an awful lot of building work has dessimated it.I've layed new turf and to my horror it is sprouting what are commonly known as "magic mushrooms".....Now many years ago this may possibly have delighted me but I'm very concerned about the threat they may pose to the kids and I would like to eradicate the mushrooms as quickly as possible.

Could anyone offer me any advice.

    Many thanks.

you mean the little puff balls? I'd wear some gloves lift them out of the ground and bin them / burn them, preferably prior to spores release!

magic mushrooms.......:D:D where? I know someone who will be happy to have them.
I'm sure if they look like puff balls then they are not magic mushrooms.

Puffballs are not poisonous, in fact most are edible.
Magic Mushrooms are small, pale coloured mushrooms usually with long curvy stems.
Always be careful with IDs for fungi!

If you've got mushrooms in your lawn it's because conditions are right for them to grow there. So therefor it's almost impossible to eradicate them without damaging your lawn as well. At this time of year I'm cutting the lawn at least twice a week and any shrooms that grow disappear into the mower. As shrooms have a relatively short fruiting period, when the grass growth slows down, the fungi will have probably finished growing.(until next year) I'm afraid you are going to hve to learn to live with them. :)
