I have a couple of questions that I would like some advise on. I bought a new pc last year to my spec - it runs xp pro, 2x250g hard drive, and 2 g ram.

    1. When I turn the computer off, unless I turn it off at the power point - it reboots all on its own. Is there a setting I need to change to ensure that when I turn it off, it stays off.

    2. I have a zoom6 wireless broadband connection - which disconnects from the internet - not the broadband connection, thats still there. The time from start up is short, maybe 10 minutes, but then after that its a couple of hours if I am not active. I have to switch the zoom box off and then on again or reboot my computer, before I can regain internet connection. Whilst not a major problem it is a tad irritating, expecially when it disconnects half way through something after start up. If I'm using my laptop on the wireless connection, the same thing happens.

Thanks in advance for any advise or suggestions.

the turning off could be down to the bios settings on your motherboard. Or it could be a problem with windows shutting down its self...i can't really give you advice to sort out that problem as it means going into your bios settings and making changes. best get technical advice on this problem.

the zoom modem may have some settings that need changing......get intouch with your internet provider and they will take you through the settings to correct the problem

hope i have been of some help ;)

Thanks John for the advice. Unfortunately with the second problem I have been in touch with my IP and indeed with the Zoom with no joy. Ah well, I'll just have to put up with the irritation :D
