Depends on where you live ... they are perennials with me! :D

Ranuculous is an annual in the UK.

Alyssum can be an annual and a perennial in the UK, however, there are the bedding variety, Lobularia maritima ... the "Carpet of Snow" (Snow in Summer or is that something else?), and then there's the perennial Alyssum saxatile now named Aurinia saxatilis, the yellow variety which is actually shown in one of my pictures posted today.

Ranunculus is the name of a group of plants that includes buttercups, water crowfoot and - whisper it quietly - the dreaded Lesser Celandine!! Depends on which ranunculus you've got - some are annual and some are perennial...

Hi, Hy! Just a guess, but I think mef750 is talking about Ranunculus asiaticus, the one used as a dried flower.

True LoL. But 'asiaticus' actually has tubers, so technically I guess it's perennial - though I agree, many perennials are actually grown as annuals anyway!! (Life gets complicated at times, doesn't it?!!)

Thank you all for your input, Alyssum is a "Cheshire choice" and snow white.
I put them in a chair (out door type) last year, and ive just pulled it out and the alyssum is just starting to bloom.
I bought the Ranunculus "Magic mix" in a pot last year, that was another I put in the chair that has started to grow as well.
Just got a bit confused as i thought they was anuals.
As not to confuse anyone, the chair is like your metal type wall troughts.
