Could anyone tell me if a quince tree will survive and fruit on dryish, rocky ground that is slightly alkaline. I don't want to waste my money if not. Any alternatives that you could recommend?

    Thanks

Dont know too much about them but i think they are grown quite widly in spain/portugal so dry rocky soil should be ok,
They are frost tollerant so our climate is fine i think the colder the winter the softer the fruit will be but saying this i have never tried them myself so dont hold me to this

Thanks Nobby. By the temperature tonight the fruit should be softening next year.

Very useful link Dave. It certainly looks like we will be okay. I will add plenty of organic matter into a large planting hole to be extra sure.
