rabbit droppings

    we have a rabbit and guinea pig, can you put the droppings and straw etc in the compost bin.

    Absolutely Sue. You can compost the droppings from any vegetarian animals.

    Agree. The straw is ideal for mixing with lawn mowings and kitchen waste like peelings etc that on their own just turn into a horrible slimey mess.

    thank you for your help when we got the bin (we have just moved house) it was half full and looks slimy would we be able to transfer to a new bin and layer the slimy stuff with the straw and droppings, is it possible to use compost accelerator sorry this is all totally new to me

    I doubt if you really need accelerator if you are layering with animal droppings as they'll contain amonia and bacteria which will help the process of decomposition.

    I agree Dave. Manure is a much better activator Sue.
