    Hi
we have 2 rabbit hutches that get cleaned out regularly, does anyone have any good ideas for what to do with the old straw etc.
I have tried turning it into the veggie patch and I have also bagged some up to see if it will decompose over winter, but we produce so much of the stuff that I dont want the garden full of black bags.... any other ideas? can it be used to keep plants in pots warm over winter etc (as long as it doesn't get too smelly )

    Thanks
    Alisonx

Do you have a local council green waste collection?
I rang them with regards to the sawdust and straw/hay waste the chickens produce and they said I could put it in with the green garden waste bin so that might be an option for you.
I also use some of the sawdust/poop combo in the compost bin.
    :)

Compost it, it won't be as good as some animal waste but it's better than nothing. The straw will certainly be an advantage.

I do compost what I can, but i get about 3 biner liners full every fortnight, I just don't have the space to compost that much!
I shall find out from the council about green waste, we have a lovely new recycling centre opened, maybe I can take it there.

I have so much animal bedding that I put the best in my own compost bins and give the rest to the council :dh:

Many people advertise chicken and horse manure on my local freecycle, but I just can't be bothered bagging and storing it :snz:
