    Hi all

I would like to turn a small area of lawn into raised beds and grow some veg, the beds would be 6" above the existing lawn level, would i need to take the existing lawn off first or can i just fill in over the top. ?

    Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum jpm :)

You'll need to remove the grass first at that depth. Use a spade to remove the turves and stack them upside down and in 18 months time you'll have some lovely compost to add to your raised bed.

As JWK says remove the turf first if not not only will it grow through in places but your veg will be plagued by wire worm!
