Rampant Creeper - Help ID Please

Hi there

Any help in identifying what this is? It's wrapped itself around the majority of the plants and shrubs in my new houses garden.

Looks like the cursed bellbine to me. Terrible to get rid of because of the thin leader roots it has everywhere trying to get them out of the ground. Good luck with shifting it.

 

Thanks for the reply, a quick Google does seem to back this up.

I tried digging out some of the roots yesterday but they went DEEP, is there a good way of shifting it (outside of digging to Australia)?

 

Yes, otherwise known as Bindweed. You could try some round-up on the roots. Terrible stuff to get shot of though!

 

round up only works on the leaves

unwind some of the bindweed without pulling/breaking the stem

spray the leaves (top and bottom of the leaves) with roundup

cover the sprayed leaves in a plastic bag (such as a tesco bag .... tie up the bag and leave it for 2 weeks .... the roundup will kill the plant
