Ah yes, the yellow fields. I have fond memories from a yellow field once. I'll say no more than that on that point.

Apart from that though, I'm not a fan. The odour they give off for a weeks of the year actually makes me feel physically ill. Sort of dizzy and weak and nauseous. I used to think it was something the farmers had sprayed on it but someone told me it is not that dissimilar to mustard gas.

          Very pretty though.

I am totally allergic to it. In 1997 in Bucks had to stop the car on a country lane coming home from work because I couldn't breathe and then went straight to the doctors. Each year we went back to the UK in the summer (2002-2004) I could smell it after we left the ferry in Plymouth and we were around Exeter way ... and I started sneezing ... and I mean 20-30 times non-stop! Like Clue1 I felt physically ill and I am not an 'ill' person but cannot cope with that ... and thankfully do not have to any more. :hapydancsmil:

We often see fields totally blue a bit later, I'm guessing that's flax?

Or linseed, nor sure if that's the same or related. More of a grey-blue haze, that one.

Rape, dreadful stuff, it plays havoc with hay fever sufferers. All my children suffer from hay fever and when we moved to the island it was a lot better. Apart from one field I've not seen it growing here.
