    Hi All

Hope everybodies gardens are doing well during this early start to summer ?

Does anybody have any experience with Victoria Plum trees ?
I've had mine in the ground for 3 years now and each year its got bigger, stronger and produced more fruit.
However this spring it didn't produce anywhere near as much blossom as previous, instead its had a massive growth spurt, every branch has put on a good 8~12" of growth and tonnes more foliage.
Does it go to stand that without the blossom it'll produce less fruit this year ?
Last year I probably picked about 40 plums, but this year there only seems to be maybe 20~30 plumlettes ?

Is there anything I can do to improve this, probably not this year, but ready for next year ?

Any help or advise much appreciated.
    John

What you are seeing is normal John. After a year of bumper fruiting the tree will 'rest' and produce less fruit. And yes without blossom you'll get less plums.

    Thanks Dave

As I thought then, i'll just have to nurture every plumlette that's on there at the moment then and make the most of them.

Aha !! so that is why my plum tree seems to be growing inches every day but I do not see as many plums.
