I have a lawn which is very weedy, to the extent that in some areas there would appear to be no grass at all. What weedkiller could I use that would allow me to sow grass seed fairly soon thereafter?

    Many thanks.

I would use a selective weedkiller. This will kill the weeds but not the grass.
The way it works is, the weedkiller lays on weeds that have broad leaves, but runs down grass blades therefore not causing death to said grass.
You may have to apply a couple of applications for stubbon weeds however and wait until they have perished before broadcasting your grass seeds.
If you have very little grass and lots of weed, it may be a good idea to rotivate the whole area removing all weeds and start from scratch.
    Hope this helps. Regards, Fonzie.

Thanks. I will follow your suggestion re weedkiller, and wait to re-seed.
