If you grow either of these you should be aware of blight, it can quickly devastate your crop, making it completely useless, the following factsheet will see you better informed.

You can also sign up to a free service that warns you about when blight is imminent due to weather conditions or if it has been found in your postcide area, it will text and/or email you meaning you can be extra vigilant.

Go and arm yourself against this devastating disease and be ready.

Blightwatch.co.uk - the essential service for professional potato growers

Many of the members here have suffered blight in past years, myself included.

      Don't panic! Don't panic!

What do I do to prevent blight? Preferably organic.

I think the only organic answer is to live in a hotter country:DOH:

Boardeau is a copper based prophilactic. Even if you spray tomatoes with it, its easily washed off before you eat them.

Just received the dreaded email advising me of a Full Smith Period for my post code plus 2 adjoining post code areas to the west and the south (I included those immediately to the N,E,S &W in my notifications).

Thanks, after shelling out £250 on a school prom dress for my daughter I'm rather relying on my 250+ spuds and 250+ toms to keep us fed with jacket potatoes (with marrow/courgette curry) and roasted cherry tomato sauce with pasta, onions & courgettes for the next 6 months.
