Our Sage and onion stuffing always used to be bought from the supermarket, usually the sausagemet sort. But when I begin to grow sage and onion I thought why not...And when I saw how to make your own on TV I started doing my own. I admit I was slightly dubious after having many years of shop bought stuffing. But now I have tried it I simply wouldn't go back...

Feline I can give you a couple of recipes for tomatoes via my late gran - whose husband also grew tomatoes. One in particular I can vouch for - as a child she used to give us cooked breakfasts, and used her own tomatoe sauce, which I remembered as magic and tasty with a lorra things. When she died, one of my aunts gave me the recipe, and I made it - and unlike most memories, it was just as I remembered.

Happy to share, if you would like them

Cooking is one of my hobbies - making and eating - but not so much of the eating nowadays (much better flavour and knowing what's in it).
Hope to find a good recipe for pumpkin pie -if the sun shines enough to make the pumpkins grow. They are only as big as tomatoes at the moment. lol :D

Hi jjordie, I don't have a recipe for pumpkin pie but I have a nice one for pumpkin and apple crumble, even better if you are growing apples in the garden. [IMG]

Hi - Be good to see the recipes for pumpkin & apple crumble & tomato sauce please!
I have an easy recipe for Pumpkin soup - Ingredients: About 1 kilo (2.2lbs) chopped pumpkin, One large onion, chopped, I clove garlic, 1/2 kilo chopped potato, 1 medium sweet potato, chopped, large handful of fresh sage, coarsely chopped, teaspoon of cumin, teaspoon of caraway seeds, about 1 litre of stock, sour cream or creme fraiche to taste. Heat some melted butter & olive oil (1/2 & 1/2), in large pan, add cumin & caraway until fragrance comes through, Fry chopped onion, until the onion is slighlty see-through squeeze in the garlic & lighlty fry (don't let it go brown) throw in pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, & toss so covered in oil & spices, Add stock & simmer lightly for about an hour until all veg soft(You may need to keep topping up the stock throughout the cooking), Add sage leaves, salt & plenty of fresh ground black pepper, cook further 2 mins , Blend & put back in pan, heat through & serve with swirls of sour cream or creme fraiche (You can replace 1/2 the stock with cider too! - or just drink it when you serve it!)
the amounts are approx I'm afraid, as I tend to grab what looks right,so you may need to play around with them.
I'll have a firtle around see if I can find one for pumpkin pie.
