All our amenity sites here have recycled for many years. We can take away anything we like free of charge and there's a separate area like a chain of garages for anything that would suffer from the effects of weather damage. Garden waste, soil and rubble is recycled by the waste department of our government. Much of what can't be recycled is taken to the island's incinerator. A picture of the building that houses it below......

I wish our recycle plant was like those
I broke a cooker knob, replacement £14 plus post
Whilst at the tip, same cooker almost new, the knobs just pull off
Tried it and the jobsworth jumped, accused of theft etc, so I chuked it into the skip and paid the £14 to ebay :-(

We have a free book shop nearby which is pretty cool. I do wonder if they get their books from the local tip or somewhere else.....

Watched this article on Television, fantastic idea ,sadly we do not have any premises in our area. I will start to make a few contacts to find out if there are any near ,outside our area.

I think its a great idea, and long overdue. It breaks my heart when I go to the tip and I see perfectly good stuff in the skips, and I know I'm not allowed to take it even though it is just going to be shipped to Africa or India and dumped, in the name of the environment.

Our local "dump" has done that for years. I saw the article and thought "Old news", but clearly if more sites start to do that it would be for the better.
