Please? I didn't take the tops off the broad beans and they're infested. Couple of ladybirds are thoughtfully watching but not attacking, probably drawing up battle plans...
Anyway, in lieu of a natural treatment is there a current acceptable spray or have they all been banned?

Detergent spray should help, I think (they are a type of aphid aren't they?)

I use diluted washing-up liquid. I've found it doesn't eradicate them, but keeps them to acceptable levels. It might take two or three applications to work:blue thumb:

The trouble is any kind of spray will not do the Ladybirds any good. How about finger and thumb????:heehee:

Will soap upset them? I thought it upset Aphids by blocking pores on their skin, or somesuch, in a way that didn't upset other critters - but I may have mis-remembered?

Good morning all It probably won't help now but I always under plant Poached Egg plants and Nasturtiums close to my Broad Beans ,it works for me as they attract the Black fly's natural enemies;)

Yes, unfortunately, Kristen, Soft soap or any other used as a spray will affect the Ladybirds.:dunno::snork:
