Does anyone know whether acidic soil causes leaves to turn reddish.
I've tested the soil in the pots of all these plants and the PH meter shows that the PH level of the soil is about 6 - just slightly acidic. All the cuttings I planted into bags and pots (all using the same soil) now have reddish leaves and are looking quite distressed.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks so much.

    What are your cuttings of?

The more acidic the soil, the redder Japanese Maple leaves are in the autumn.

I suspect your plants have got a severe case of "autumn", becky!

    There's no known cure.
