    Hi,
Can anyone help me out here.
The local park is getting done over, ie "improved", "restored".

Been seeing lots of these marks recently on trees, not just in the park but other places.
Do they mean what I think they do, ie. green is ok to let keep living but red is dead?

Any thoughts, but then this tree has red and green.????

I'd say that the trees are being marked up for some kind of work to be carried out on them - whether that's felling or general pruning though I'm not sure.

We have a wooded walk 50yards from the house lots of the trees had yellow paint dots on them, for weeks then last week a lorry and cherry pickers arrived they lopped branches and general tidy up

Our local land thief (each year he moves his boundary fence two meters further into the wooded walk) this year ring barked two trees that were closer to his current boundary, about three months ago he went out behind the team marking trees, and put his own yellow circles on the ones he had ring barked

It appears in our case that the marking is for pruning, though different councils may have different codes, Red cut down green Prune, yellow remove climbing IVY
