Red Valerian cuttings

Good evening all,

A quick question...if wild growing Red Valerian is classed as a non-native species in my area is it ok to take cuttings?

Easy from cuttings, easier from seed. Because of this, it's a PITA to get rid of once you have it.
Besides that....

 

I've never thought of cuttings, it spreads rapidly from seed on my allotment.

 

Thanks... I'll give seeds a try and try some cuttings as well...once grown on they will be transplanted into big terracotta pots where they will hopefully attract Hummingbird Hawkmoths.

 

I found a good dug gave me a stem with a bit of root on it.
It was difficult to get rid of though.

 

Thanks everyone...once in the final pots, those pots will be standing on gravel that is 6 inches deep, so I should be ok in keeping it under control.

 

I love it. I had pink and white but the red was several houses away. I had to wait a couple of years for it to arrive. Ok it seeds everywhere but the seedlings are easy to recognise and easy to pull out.

 

You might find it loves the gravel, I got my seed from the shingle at Dungeness.

 

I love it down there. So many interesting plants. But last time it went there was an eejit on one of those hover bike things enjoying himself to the detriment of everyone else

 

Some quite strange vegetation down there, not come across hover bikes.

 

Lucky you. The noise was really irritating.
Not a bike but I don't know what they're called. They skim over the water
