      Aah, that would explain something.

Last time I had a tooth out, the anesthetic didn't work, so the dentist wacked me up with some more, which still didn't work, but i'd had enough of the whole thing by then so just let him pull it out.

The pain just about dropped me.

      I had the gas once.

Had a nightmare trip while I was under. I could see a screen in front of me filling up with stuff from the bottom to the top & I knew once the screen had been filled I was going to die.

Just as the last gap was going to be filled, I came round with tears all down my face & blood pouring out of my mouth. They gave me a tissue & put me on the bus home, still bleeding.

      I was only 5.

Hmmm .. am not a redhead but was ginger when small (cringe) and have been luckily strawberry blonde in later years, now going streakily white ....

When I had to undergo major surgery in 1986, apparently the anaesthetist (sp?) had to slap me around to wake me up because when he said count backward from 10 I was gone at 9 which was too soon ... :heehee:

I had tooth out a couple of years ago under "general anaesthetic" never had that before, I thought I would be "out cold" How wrong was I? conscious all the time, apparently its so you will do as asked, like open wide, no not that wide etc (I am not joking) but the good bit is, you don't remember a thing, I was then taken home where I slept for almost 24 hours, had it done again when I had the "snip" (oh and that's a con, its not the SNIP, its the SNIPS, as they snip twice) or did I have the snip first, I really don't remember. But deffinently recommend the anaesthetic.

I'm not sure if I count as red head. Until I was about 10 I had copper coloured hair in the summer, slightly darker in the winter. It eventually mutated to almost black but my beard has loads of ginger in it.

Anaesthetic doesn't really work on me. I remember one time at the dentist, having been anaesthetized, I was asked to count to 10. I promptly did so. The dentist looked at the anaesthetist who promptly checked her sums. The dentist asked me to count back down to zero from 10, which I promptly did. Seeing that the dentist seemed puzzled, I asked if there was a problem. He hesitated, before answering that most people only get as far as 3. He asked me to count to 10 once more. It went, 1.. 2.. 3.. BANG! and then I was in the full swing of The Big Beat rave, which is odd, because I'd never actually been to that particular event in real life.

Gone a bit off-thread here, but I'll tell you my dentsist story anyway :) Back in October, I had to have a tooth out (top rear). The lady assistant gave me an injection in the back of my hand, and the dentist asked me about my holidays, obviously waiting for me to go under. Anyway, I was telling him about how I didn't want to climb Helvellyn, and then he said "you can go and sit in the waiting room" I said "but what about the tooth?" He said, "it's out"

A very strange experience indeed, not unpleasant though...

I knew absolutely nothing about it. The whole thing was seamless. We were chatting, and it was out! I guess it was some kind of anaesthetic.
