Yesterday I got into work to an email summoning me to a meeting in Portsmouth today, only to be told in the meeting that I'm redundant as of 7th September

I am on my own with a fairly hefty mortgage, etc and so can't afford to be out of work for very long.

Tonight I am going to drink cider and feel sorry for myself. Tomorrow the job hunting starts in earnest.

So sorry to hear your news, Merleworld. I know that nasty sinking feeling you get when you start thinking about the mortgage, bills etc etc.

I do hope you find something very soon. In the meantime, enjoy your drink.

Its not good news at all. I understand the drink idea, but don't, celebrate instead when you get a new job.

Sorry to hear that. It is a nasty shock but sometimes a better job will come of it.
It was after my OH was made redundant that we moved to France. He became self employed and now works from home for U.k & Germany and we have a lovely home here. When one door closes.....................................
