Should I start a uploadfromtaptalk1446027154878.jpg nother tomato from seed or try to grow from these?

These were plants i had left to dry after harvesting from them. But they just sprouted without watering or anything.

They will grow but to be honest it's better to start again using seed, otherwise you'll have to nurse that sideshoot over-winter.

Indian climate permits growing throughout the year so winter isn't an issue.

I just didn't want the whole developed root system to go waste so thought if I could grow from them.

@Veepul, it might help others if you were to add your location in your profile.

Yes please add your location to your profile Veepul, my advice was aimed at folk who would grow in the UK.

Tomatoes are that easy to grow from seed that i wouldn't bother looking after the re-growth on that plant. Plus the seeds cost pennies, well in England anyway :)

they grow fast and without much care needed. Just keeping on top of side shoots, watering and feeding is pretty much it

          So true.

By the way can you elaborate on the part where you said keeping on top of the side shoots?

          certainly Veepul

here's a picture i have found on google:

          upload_2015-10-30_13-40-53.jpeg

as you can see, the main plant stem is growing upwards

there is then a leaf stem or fruit truss growing to the left

in between where these join, there is a small shoot growing. These are what are referred to as side shoots

you need to pinch these out. They take energy from the plant when you want the plants energy going into fruit (tomato) production

Well my experience has been a little different though.

Most of these suckers were actually producing tomato flowers and i didn't feel like pinching it off.

They did eventually develop stems also so your right, should have plucked it off.

          Lesson learned the hard way.
