I know quite a few of you have these.
I just want the basic thing, I dont want humidity, wind speed, and a weather forecast.

I just want to be able to see the temperature in my greenhouse when I'm lying in bed.
Up to three sensors would be ideal.

My last one made by Oregon was ok, but it went up the chute earlier in the year, now with winter coming on its getting a bit more important.

So really looking for something basic, but reliable.
    Any ideas.
Oh forgot to say, I dont want it to cost much.:snork:

The cheapest option is to move your bed to the greenhouse :)

Mine is Oregon too pete, it does humidity but temp max/min is all I use. Don't they make them anymore? If it's one of the sensors you can buy replacements. If its the base station maybe you can find a replacement on ebay.

I realise you only want outdoor temp monitoring, but I saw these going quite cheap at £17.99 a week or so ago
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2269258.htm and it's supposed to have a wireless sensor, but can't see range there or here

And if your existing sensor is still working it might also be able to be used with it, compatability shown here

The only store with one left appears to be Gravesend Argos. NB they are supposed to be black not white as illustration.

I have these and do monitor them during the day however last year I realized that it wouldn't wake me if the temps dropped dangerously close to freezing. I don't sleep read. Last March I lost a lot of seedlings because silent temp reporting didn't alert me to my gh going down well below freezing. It was a sad day.

I was worried the heater might again somehow shut down while I was dozing so I bought a system with an audio alarm. The alarm would wake the dead and is not for the faint of heart as it is not adjustable and blares at 110 decibels.

But it did wake me a few times when the heater unexpectedly extinguished itself and I was able to start the heat again before all was lost. Well worth the investment.

This system is made by Ideal Security.

Its the base station that went kaput, I've still got two remoter sensors, but as they all seem to do humidity as well these days I'm guessing my sensors will not be compatible.

I'll have a look on Ebay, thanks for the in-put folks.:blue thumb:

I have to different bases for remote sensors - because one of the sensors was broken and needed to replace it - here's the fun part - the sensor from the old system works does send/read with the new base. So I didn't need to buy a second sensor for my other gh!

              It's worth a try.

Thankyou Lori, might be worth a go.
